Personal Training type of 1 on 1 attention is how we prefer to give all of our students!  However, we offer coed, kids and women’s group classes as well.

In order to give personal training attention in a group class setting, we cap all group classes so there is never more than 12 students per class to ensure we are able to provide The Highest Quality of Instruction Possible!

With so much attention in group classes, what makes personal training different from classes is simple: personal training, we do what the client wants to do, while in our small group classes, the instructor decides the curriculum.

Coach Dave Nielsen grew up in Washington, Iowa, Maine, South Carolina, Hawaii, Korea and more.  Growing up in a proud military family, moving was difficult during formative years and with no siblings his age, it was a lone experience.  With each move came new kids, new clicks and new problems.  Not 1 to back down from teasing and confrontation in his Youth, Coach Dave often found himself in physical conflict.  These experiences gave Coach Dave a Real World perspective on defending himself all over the world with different people from different fighting styles like wrestlers in Iowa, kickboxers in Korea, tough islanders in Hawaii and more.

Coach Dave was also raised predominantly by a mother and 2 sisters and now has 3 daughters of his own, hence his passion for womens safety. Coach Dave has a unique Real World point of view when it comes to bullying, self defense when dealing with multiple assailants and women’s self defense safety (based on 30 + years of research, study, interviews and experience).

American Boxing Muay Thai MMA Academy in Pacific Beach is without a doubt one of the countries most active and successful Muay Thai schools.  Prior to California’s legalization of amateur MMA, Team American Boxing was very active in Pankration, the original amateur MMA.

Established in 2003 and fighting Thai Boxing since 2000 here in San Diego, American Boxing was the 1st Muay Thai school to give San Diego a true 100% Muay Thai presence in the American Muay Thai Scene!

Our AMATEURS have fought from New York to Ohio to Thailand, often with flight and hotel paid for by the promoter.  A free trip to the Big Apple to fight…not bad for an amateur!

Our Muay Thai connections are untouchable.  We do not fight at small in house smokers although they are always offerd to us. Rather we fight for some of the oldest promotions in the country and have taken home IKF, IAMTF and even WBC Titles on the professional and amateur levels.

Our Muay Thai is both feared and respected in the USA Muay Thai Community.

MMA and Boxing is also available for competition however these connections are easy for anyone to have.  A good Muay Thai promotion is not.  That is a BIG way we are different
